Director Biography - Avinoam Silverman

Avinoam Silverman was born in Jerusalem, Israel and began his training at The Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music and Dance. After completing grade 10, he moved to Toronto to continue his studies at Canada’s National Ballet School. He graduated in 1996 and joined The National Ballet of Canada as an Apprentice. He became a member of the Corps de Ballet in 1997 and was promoted to Second Soloist in 2004. In 2009 Mr. Silverman retired from The National Ballet of Canada. In 2010 Mr. Silverman created a work for Cadence "City Connect" titled 'Change' which marked his choreographic debut for a dance company. In 2012 Mr. Silverman has graduated from the Teacher Training Program at Canada's National Ballet School. Mr. Silverman has participated twice in Ballet Jorgen Solos and Duets working with the companies dancers and recently performed in the show "60 times 60" to his own choreography. In June 2015 his first Dance Film 'Diversion' came to light. At this time he is pursuing a career as a freelance choreographer/director, dancer and teacher.

I'm interested in creating works that are focused on the human condition that relate to the worlds curant issues. Through my projects I wish to bring us closer to our truth and to understand ourselves better, so we can improve this world by working together.
