Coastal Zone
The short approaches the problematics of the coastal zone in relation with the climate change, the pollution and depredation of swamps, marshes, reefs and beaches.
Is this case in particular, it focuses on the state of Yucatan in Mexico. Although the problem is worldwide, it was intended to give a local focus to a greater impact of the consequences of the actions of human beings.
It was made to commemorate the international day of the environment. The only intention is to raise awareness of the short people who see it and thereby contribute a little, with education and respect for the environment.

Saul Sotelo studied Electronics in 1984 in the city of Guadalajara. From childhood he was in the world of video. Since young, He filmed in VHS video camera, with which recorded his nephews making fictitious papers and small dramas. Scripts which produced and performed with the family.
In the 80s, his fondness for video and not having sufficient financial resources, led him to make his first editions with two VCRs, audio recorder and camcorder itself, making his first home editions. Turning to family events a tradition, to meet and see the recorded results of family gatherings. At the end everyone wanted to participate.
In the 90s he created two medium-length films, which are an adaptation of a story by Woody Allen and original story of a Triller where it touches the taboo of relations MWM. Both films enjoyed them, but by circumstances of fate, Saul had to leave the middle of the video and focused to work in a company in the area of training and corporate communications. "Leaving aside their dreams." Now making videos for the business environment. This stage helped him a lot to learn how to use digital tolos, video and image editing, and management and content writing.
2011, waiving the last position he held at the workplace and resumed his career as a Filmmaker. He began to make short films, now with scientific, educational and environmentalist approach.
Shorts as “Energy in Images” (5 chapters), the ABC of opossums and Coastal Zone give the tone to start a new path and make his last short: Lamia Animas (Soul Vampire), a mix between experimental, video art and horror, giving with this a spin gender previous short.
Saúl Sotelo, autodidacta
Saúl Sotelo estudió Electrónica en 1984 en la ciudad de Guadalajara. Desde niño estuvo dentro del mundo del video. Compró en su juventud una cámara de video VHS, con la cual grababa a sus sobrinos haciendo papeles ficticios y pequeños dramas. Guiones que elaboraba y realizaba en la familia.
En los 80´s, su afición por el video y no contar con suficientes recursos económicos, lo llevó a realizar sus primeras ediciones con dos videocaseteras, una grabadora de audio y la misma videocámara, haciendo sus primeras ediciones caseras. Convirtiendo de los eventos familiares toda una tradición, al reunirse y ver los resultados grabados de la reuniones familiares. Al final todos querían participar.
En los 90´s creó dos mediometrajes, los cuales son una adaptación de un cuento de Woody Allen y una historia original de un Triller en donde toca el tema tabú de las relaciones HMH. Ambos filmes gustaron mucho, pero por circunstancias del destino, Saúl tuvo que dejar el medio del video y se enfocó a trabajar en una empresa en el área de capacitación y comunicación corporativa. “Dejando a un lado sus sueños”. Haciendo ahora videos para el medio Empresarial. Ésta etapa le sirvió mucho para aprender el manejo de las herramientas digitales, tanto en la edición de video, como en el manejo de imágenes y redacción de contenidos.
El año 2011, renuncia al último puesto que tuvo en el medio laboral y retoma su carrera como Filmmaker.
Comienza a realizar pequeños cortos, ahora con enfoque científico, Educativo y medioambientalista.
Cortos como Energía en Imágenes (5 capítulos), el ABC de las Zarigüeyas y Zona Costera, le dan la pauta para comenzar un nuevo camino y realizar su último corto: Lamia Animas, una mezcla entre experimental, videoarte y horror, dando con esto un giro de género a los cortos anteriores.
