Director Biography - Rachel Stogner, Joshua Winters

Rachel Stogner Perry has loved making films since she got a hold of her dad's old camcorder when she was 8. She and her friends put together short films and had a blast doing it. When she got older, she got video editing software and that allowed her to really explore the craft of filmmaking. She made her own green-screen from cloth and continued to try out different techniques to create interesting videos. She enjoyed creating music videos most of all. Rachel has worked on several short films and one feature length film. She enjoyed those experiences greatly and is grateful the opportunities they gave her. Rachel is a recent graduate from the University of West Georgia who graduated with a degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in film and video production. She plans to dive into the growing film industry in Atlanta and hopefully make a name for herself as a producer on feature length films one day. Reverie is Rachel's favorite film project to date and feels especially proud of the hard work and talent that went into the project from everyone involved.

Rachel Stogner Perry - Reverie is based on an original script that I wrote with Lindsey Ray and Destyn Perry. When we wrote it, we never imagined it would come to life on the screen so beautifully. Bringing Reverie to life was an incredible experience. With the help of a wonderful and talented cast and crew, we created something that we can all be proud of.

Josh Winters - Domestic abuse is a serious topic that has been portrayed in all forms of media since it seems like the beginning of time. However, what attracted me to Reverie was the almost nonlinear way it was told. Being that the term "reverie" means to be lost in a daydream or to maintain a dreamlike state, it's almost ambiguous in its approach of jumping back and forth through time. The characters are the same, so are these just dreams from one character's point of view in one timeline? Or does reincarnation play a role? It's really up to the viewer. That's the beauty of film. I like the idea of mixing those concepts with topics that are so close to home, such as abuse, freedom, and equality, and we tried to distinguish the two time periods with different styles as well. And although it deals with heavy subject matter, it was overall just a joy to come aboard. Honestly, this felt more like a collaborative directorial effort in which so many ideas and suggestions were made and enforced by the entire team, not just myself, so it was a different experience from my past works. It's probably one of the most memorable films I've had the honor to work on thus far.
