John Denver and opera fans alike have something to look forward to as we go behind the scenes and watch full performances of 'Great Voices Sing John Denver'. Legendary music producer, Milton Okun along with arranger and conductor Lee Holdridge, bring some of the most famous names in opera to sing John Denver's famous hit songs. Featured artists include Placido Domingo, Danielle de Niese, Matthew Polenzani (singing in English and Italian) Patricia Racette, Rene Pape, Nathan Gunn, Dolora Zajick, Thomas Hampson, Rod Gilfry, Denyce Graves, Shenyang (singing in English and Mandarian) Daniel Montenegro, Placido Domingo Jr., Stuart Skelton and Barbara Padilla. Director Biography - Kenneth Shapiro

One of today’s most multitalented television producer/directors, Kenneth Shapiro possesses a diverse background spanning more than 30 years and more than a thousand hours of live, tape and film productions. He is currently completing post-production on Dulce Rosa, an original opera conducted by Plácido Domingo based on the short story Revenge by acclaimed writer Isabel Allende.
Shapiro has directed numerous operas for the Los Angeles Opera's Recovering Voices project including Alexander Zemlinsky's Der Zwerg (The Dwarf), Der Zerbrochene Krug (The Broken Jug) and Die Vögel (The Birds). Additionally, Kenneth directs and produces a number of projects for the Los Angeles Opera Education and Community Programs branch including Concierto para Mendez, Figaro’s American Adventure, Tanis in America and The Prospector.
2015 marked Shapiro’s 13th year directing live performances of the L.A. Philharmonic Concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall as well as the Hollywood Bowl and 18th year directing the EMMY Award winning L.A. County Holiday Celebration and his 11th time as producer for the program. His credits include an impressive cross section of programs such as the Academy Awards®, the Grammy Awards®, Stand Up 2 Cancer, America: Tribute to Heroes, AFI Salutes and the American Music Awards®, as well as serving as director for five years on the number-one CBS hit comedy series, Everybody Loves Raymond.
He is a three-time Emmy® winner for his work on the A&E in Concert: Sting – Inside the Songs of Sacred Love, the Academy Awards® and the 54th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration. He has received more than two-dozen nominations including an L.A. Area Emmy® nominations for Live@ The Ford and the 49th, 50th and 51st Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration. He has received five Telly Awards® and an Aurora Award® for producing the national broadcast of L.A. Holiday Celebration.
Well versed in graphic design and state-of-the-art electronic effects, he designed opening montages and design elements for the Academy Awards® and American Music Awards®.
