Director Biography - Clive Ashenden

Clive Ashenden's filmmaking education formally began when he studied at Portsmouth College of Art, Design and Further Education. His work here caused him to be accepted at Farnborough College of Technology, onto a Film course which allowed him to radically experiment with the artistic possibilities opened up by the new video camera technology that was just becoming available.

His passion for editing led him to the post-production houses of Soho where he quickly advanced from Runner to Junior Editor. He built strong relationships with clients and producers alike on long running British TV Drama and film projects, before being head-hunted by leading Broadcast PR Agency markettiers4DC, to work as an in-house Director/Editor.

Parallel to his career in post-production, Clive has continued to create short films, virals and music promos as writer, producer and director. Horror short ‘Snatching Time’ screened at the Frightfest, the UK's premier horror film festival. His shorts ‘Gunplay’ and ‘Soliloquy’ were showcased at the Cannes Film Festival short film corner. In 2010 he wrote and directed the trailer for a proposed horror anthology feature, ‘Habeas Corpus’. A viral sensation, to date it has received over 1.6 Million hits on YouTube.

In 2011 he wrote and directed ‘The Vanished’ for the Seafarers UK charity. Here he dared do something different from a normal charity video and was rewarded with a nomination for the Donald Gosling Award, at the Maritime Media Awards. Made more notable by the fact that all the other nominees were big budget TV productions. 2012's short ‘Out of Hours was’ an Official Raindance Film Festival selection.

A director with a strong personal vision and a unique visual style, he draws upon a diverse array of filmic influences including David Lynch, Ingmar Bergman and Jean Pierre-Melville.
