Andrea Mazzacavallo started studying music at age 9, starting with classical piano and later passing to jazz and experimental vocals. In 1995 he won the Prize dedicated to Demetrio Stratos Cantare la voce
In 2000 he released his first album with which he participated at Sanremo 2000 with the song Nord-Est, coming last in the contest. Two months later he graduated in History and Philosophy with a thesis entitled Game of simulation and human knowledge at the University of Bologna. In 2002 he released his second album called Low-Fi relating to a theatre comedy. He continues his career as a musician and author in the theatre area and created numerous cabarets and musical shows.
In 2003 he took part in the music festival Uzbeka in Taskent. From 2000 he continued his career also as a piano and experimental voice teacher in Bologna, as well as creating soundtracks for theatre, television and cinema.
In 2006 he won the Leoncino d’oro at the Venice Biennale for the sound track to the Carlo Gozzi show, il Corvo. In 2007 he held a seminary on Music and voice in the Commedia dell’arte at the Korean University of Seoul. The same year he wrote the sound track for L’ultima casa by Tiziano Scarpa which won the prize Chi è di Scena at the Biennale di Venezia. In 2008 he created the music for the circus-theatre show Cirk for the Dutch director Ted Keijser.
In 2009 he published his first book of stories accompanied by a soundtrack called “Ticket”. In the same year he collaborated with the Finish director Stella Parland as an actor and musician in a show about Dadaism called Kallakalkon(cold turkey) for the KlockrikeTeatern in Helsinki. After that he worked as director on short films about work for Rai Uno.
