Since the age of eighteen, Director, Ryan Shovey, has been transforming his love for film into a career. After finishing the film program at Valencia College in 2007, Shovey won a CINE Golden Eagle Award For Excellence for his unique film adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart. This achievement led to a global, online presence with the film being viewed by film professionals and literary teachers all over the world.
In the following years, Shovey created Zeik's Bad Day (Web Mini-Series), Just Take Your Time (Music Video), Hunter (a horror short throw-back to Halloween and Scream) which was intended to become a feature length Slasher/ Horror film. Hunter also premiered at the ShockFest Film Festival in Los Angeles, CA, where it was nominated for Best Short Film and Best Editing, and won Best Slasher Short Film at the Fear Fete Film Festival. Finally, Shovey directed his first TV Spec Pilot (Help Wanted) and another horror short titled The Audition (which has also played many horror film festivals across the United States).
Shovey now lives in Los Angeles, CA and is actively pursuing his Directing career. He has directed three short films entitled Cecilia, Lover, and Mirrored, as well as providing additional directing on an animated feature film titled Kung-Fu Style. He formed Carpenter Hill Productions with his producing and writing partner, Nicole Bird, and since started marketing several feature film scripts to interested parties.
Lover is a well crafted B-Movie horror, and, in that very fashion, deals with real human emotions and fears while also being wrapped within a subtle monster movie. The fear is that we never know who we are really with, and this story is about that situation being the worst possible.
