Director, Writer, Producer, Actor and Editor are just a few of the titles that best describe Jonathan Rowan. Jonathan is the true definition of talent, drive, passion, creativity and vision. Considered a man of many talents behind and in front of the camera, there is no limit to the skills that he possesses from cinematography, editing, directing, writing and producing for film, television and digital media. Combined with intellect, charisma, perseverance, creativity and a work ethic rivaled by few, Jonathan Rowan is destined to be one of Hollywood's next Leading Filmmakers. One of the first things that attracted Jonathan to the art of filmmaking was his love for the arts.
Jonathan comes equipped with a BFA in Pre-law & Political Sciences from Northern Kentucky University. During his time at NKU, Jonathan successfully wrote, directed and produced his first horror feature, “Slasher”. He is currently finishing his MFA in Film Production at Loyola Marymount University. His feature, Slasher, as well as his shorts, Chocolate Milk, Invisible, Runnin’, Heart Beats, Beauty Mark and Man Down have been featured at Revolt TV, Social Justice Now Film Festival, DTLA Film Festival, Indie Night Film Festival, Louisville’s International Festival of Film, International Black Film Festival Nashville, Charlotte Black Film Festival, Atlanta Black Pride Film Festival, LGBTQ Shorts Film Festival, One Love: Art & Music Film Festival, Reveel Network and Canon Burbank Professional Technology Center.
Slasher was created as a response to the lack of good quality horror flicks being made and produced during today's time. As a director, I wanted to focus my energies on creating a powerfully driven storyline which brings back true horror. With Slasher, its all about the built up and the ability to bring a fresh take to the slasher genre. The film itself is a roaster ride from start to finish, which includes a psychological plot twist that no one will see coming. It is my goal to provide the audience with thrills, chills, fear, suspense and bloody good fun.
Slasher stands out above the rest with its new take on breaking away from racial cliché character archetypes. Instead this film includes a predominantly African-American cast and sheds new light on the genre. Slasher treads new ideals and territory with a smart and intelligent script, talented cast, creative team and well rounded atmosphere. Slasher is by far one of the best slasher films in its genre to date and proclaims itself as a staple in true American horror.
