Director Biography - Rafael Syd

Rafael Syd, 41, works in the audiovisual market for 14 years. He has worked as a director, cinematographer and editor in surfing films for MORMAII, First Shift (2006) and Rapaze (2009). For six years he was responsible for audiovisual coverage of the Mormaii team athletes, in the world's top surfing competitions. In 2010 he developed in partnership with Oakley the first surf film in Brazil, Day By Day, which chronicles the daily life of professional athlete Adriano de Souza (Mineirinho).

He served as set director, aquatic director of photography and editor of the first and second seasons of the Fish Man (2013, 2014) for Off Channel. He was also the director of photography of Zero Cost program, with two 13 episode seasons for Channel Off.
Currently he splits his time as executive producer, director, editor and writer for TV series, documentaries and advertising films for production company Syd Movies. Bed Death was his first fiction project, alongside the project for a science-fiction television show.
