Vincent

To pursue genuine oriental aesthetics on cinema, the film "VINCENT" celebrating the 125th anniversary of great Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh is scripted and produced. It was through a letter written by Vincent Van Gogh to his friend also known as “Vincent” in Hangzhou, China on the evening of Dec 23rd, 1888. Through the time eclipse, the Chinese artist “Vincent” is able to realize his aim for creation today in the year 2016.

Director Biography - Wen-Shing HO, Hwang Ouchul

Filmmaker and musician Dr. Wen-Shing Ho’s wide experiences with multidisciplinary art works (Film, Music, Theatre, and Dance) have allowed her to cultivate an interest in oriental aesthetics, and have involved collaborative projects with Singapore Odyssey Dance Theater, UK Evolving Moving Dance Company, and the Shanghai Performing Arts Research Center. Her films and photography have won many awards, including Best Director Honorable Mention for “Ku” at the Georgetown Indy Film Festival. She was a Telly Awards Finalist in the Children's Audience Category for her animated film “Self-Portrait 1889”。 Her latest feature length script “Takao Dancer” was premiered at 26th Toyo International Film Festival, an official selection of the 2011 Torino Script & Pitch Workshops with full scholarship, the ACE-HAF Co-production Lab at the 35th Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Highlight of the Year at Cinema Pacific Film Festival in USA, and nominated for International Competition of Jagran Film Festival in India and the winner of "Best Foreign Film Awards" at the 8th Bulgaria International Film Festival "IDOLS", sofia. Currently, She is the professor at USC-SJTU Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry.

Filmmaker, Painter, Sculptor, Poet, born in Korea, graduated from Doctoral Program of Waseda University, Tokyo Japan, the Faculty of Fine Arts of Seoul National University in Korea, graduate credits from New York University, and MFA at the School of Art and Design at Pratt Institute, USA. He is a prolific and influential painter, sculptor and poet. He has created more than 2000 works, many acknowledged as pinnacles of abstract painting, drawing, calligraphy, sculpture, ceramics, children's illustrated books, poetry and imagery, including “Painter's Dream”, “A King of No Kingdom”, and the full-length screenplays “Tear, Love Smile”, “I am Beautiful”, and “I Mean It”.

Hwang took up painting, drawing, writing, and reading great literature in his earliest childhood in LiShu, Korea, under his father’s guidance. His work is noted for its sensory components and often reflects the activities, dreams and turbulence in his own life. His invited solo and group exhibitions have been held in various galleries and museums in Korea, Japan, Holland and China, including at Ilmin Museum of Art in Korea, the Duolun Museum of Modern Art in China, the Hokkaido Modern Art Museum in Japan, and the Queen’s Gallery in Thailand. His works are widely collected by museums, galleries and private collectors. He also created films such as “I Mean It”, “A Talk”, “Nothing is Something”, “Water” and “Thief”.
