Director Statement

The Film ‘The Push’ was the first main experimental work of our team- students of High courses of Script writers and film Directors Institute in Moscow, Russia. We were very inspired of the main theme of the script -the confrontation of two worlds: world of science, dream, miracle and the world of philistine as well as, unfortunately, narrow-minded people.
In a world of consumption and the never-ending rush, the theme of the film appeared actual to us. The world of miracle was able to defend itself from invaders by means of falling radio set, and other substances falling from above.
By the end of the film, the clash of the miracle world would change the mind, destiny and the relationships of the miserable couple and consequently the beloved couple belonging to the opposite world. The happy ending, full of light hearted humour, inspired us to use a special way of filming that brought it back to basics.
Our decision was to portray the intimate atmosphere between the actors and viewers as well as show that there is no need for the use of excessive budgets, in order to create a good quality art piece. Stripping of all the fancy equipment, we conclude to only using one single light source, that is the one coming from the camera light, in order to achieve the maximum realism we were aspiring for.
I hope that our little art piece, full raw human emotion and corresponding irony can help our viewers see the larger meaning of the film. And therefore, deserve a little bit of your attention and the honour to be presented at some of the Greatest World’s Festivals.
