And the Swans Still Swim - The Story of the Stony Hill Inn
And the Swans Still Swim - The Story of the Stony Hill Inn is a thirty-six minute film celebrating the legacy and memory of the now-torn-down-but-not-forgotten landmark motel and inn that was the gateway to Route 6 and the expansion of Stony Hill corridor of Bethel...where Bethelites and beyond dined, met, celebrated, wed, mourned and admired/dodged swans for over sixty years...
The film is a joint project between local storytellers and bookmakers seraphemera books and the Bethel Historical Society. The film features an original score by local songwriter Lys Guillorn.
Built around an interview with Gene Rubino, the second generation proprietor of the business, and interviews with family and long-time friends, the film is not only the tale of how a town changes over time, but how the loss of community destinations, such as the Stony Hill Inn, truly change the landscape of our lives. Sometimes, the places we love, only live on in our memories...and so we record the tale, to help remember.
