Curtain of Secrecy

Curtain of Secrecy is the true story of Ruby McCollum; an affluent African American woman in Live Oak Florida. In 1952, Ruby shot and killed her white lover, prominent doctor and state senator Leroy Adams, in cold blood. The story explores the reasons why she was pushed to the brink of insanity and how her trial changed the American justice system forever.

Director Biography - Ramona Ramdeen

Ramona Ramdeen, received her BFA from the Art Institute of Jacksonville’s Digital Film and Video Production program. She created several short films, music videos, PSA’s and documentaries during her time in school, and has been nominated for and won scholarships and awards for different projects she produced during her studies. Last year, she produced “Person” a short silent film about a trans-gendered teen that won a Gold Student Academy Award. Currently, her directorial debut, Curtain of Secrecy, is also in consideration for this year's Student Academy Awards. Ramona is actively involved in creating commercial content for local businesses as well as national campaigns for profit and Not-for-profit businesses. Before film, Ramona was studying to be a social worker, her background in social work allows her to build and lead teams by managing different personalities extremely well. Ramona also enjoys writing and directing, and has a passion for themes such as social justice, domestic violence and health and wellness. Ramona loves working with creative minds and considers herself a “Fixer” the artists come to her with a puzzle, and she finds the pieces and fits them together.
