Fading Marketplaces:Shek Wu Hui in Sheung Shui, friendships in market

In Hong Kong, talking about Sheung Shui these days, all we can come across are parallel goods trader and milk powder scarcity. From the 30s, farmers started going to Shek Wu Hui, which is the first farm market and has turned into many shops nowadays. In these few years, lots of parallel goods trader and mainland visitor have
come visit Hong Kong. On the face of it, they seem to stimulate the economic activity in Sheung Shui, however, only large financial group and chain store can actually get benefit from their visits. The rent of shops in Shek Wu Hui has rocketed, so that many shops were closed one by one. There are only a few
shops left now. In this episode, the owners of the shops shared their friendships with the neigbours and the keys to run their business. All we can see is the connection between shop owners and neighborhood.
