Teleporter - Time and Again (2015)

What if there were two futures we could have. Two paths we can take. One future is a dead desolate world with polluted orange skies, the other oxygen rich blue with fruitful green landscapes? In the 25th century there are two time lines. Two future Earths are controlled by companies, one good, one evil. In both these Earths, time travel is used to alter the past and the supreme rulers are called the president. In one, Mr. President’s absolute rule is an undemocratic rule and more resembles the tyranny of a dictatorship. From his own genetically superior DNA an army of clones are created to reinforce his supreme power and carry out his egotistical commands. When it is discovered the Teleporter time chamber was infiltrated by a traveler from the past the president sends one of his Hercules clones back to 1999 to terminate the subject. In the other timeline, Madam President’s goal is to insure a pollution free planet and she has her own plan to alter the past and save the future. She sends her agent Mary to counter Hercules actions. Both presidents have shielding protecting them from the paradox caused by their tampering with time however the future of the planet depends on who succeeds to alter one man’s life and the discovery of a non-polluting substitute fuel that could replace gasoline and diesel fuels.

Director Biography - Lou Turner

The film is adapted from the Lou Turner’s play "Teleporter” originally about an alien girl with a tail who beams to planet Earth. Although the title hasn’t changed, this is the 34 minute remake of the award winning 24 minute short “Teleporter – Time and Again,“ written, produced, directed, with animation and custom music created by Turner. The new story has some significant character, plot, and theme changes.
Assistant director for the remake was Janice Flansburg from Mastic NY who also appears in the film. A tale about a girl from the future that travels back in time to save Jim Goldman and insure the play “Teleporter” gets published. Why? Because the book contains the formula for a non-polluting, environmentally friendly, alternative fuel that will someday save the planet Earth. In this remake we visit both the future year 2525 and 1999 the past. In this version there are multiple timelines and major differences affecting the character’s lives. This time Jim actually dies in one timeline. Shooting took place around New York City, Long Island, J&L Studios in Shirley and JHD Productions in Deer Park. Originally there was only one Hercules character, Frank Leonard, who had no lines at all. In this rewrite there are 30 Hercules clones, Frank also plays the future president and his clone general that have instrumental dialogue to the new plot.

Director Statement

Turner’s theory is, if you are standing on earth it’s always moving, the solar system is moving, the planets are moving and the galaxies are moving. If you were to travel back in time you would wind up in the same spot, but you wouldn’t be on Earth. You’d be in outer space somewhere, where the Earth once was. That’s why the “Teleporter“ time bubble has to travel though space and time.
Author Turner says, “I got the idea for the environmental theme from my dad. He invented an alternative fuel in the late 70’s; during those really long lines at the gas station pumps.”
The final cut was completed December 2015 at Lou Turner’s home studio where he did the editing, created the new 3D animated effects, and customized the music he wrote that never made it into the original shorter film. Turner started out doing television production, local cable commercials and educational videos always thinking about making “Teleporter.” While taking care of family and paying the bills, he also found time to learn computer animation and MIDI music. Although the original 24 minute short won a best children’s film award in the L.I. 2000 festival Turner was never satisfied with the story and never published the work. This 34 minute remake is not a children’s film.
Now that I have changed the story, added the multiple time lines, have included the future scenes as well as custom music and new 3D animation I think it is ready for its debut. It would be a dream to see Teleporter – Time and Again” premiere. I hope to continue the Time story with a feature length sequel.
