Experiencing Interruptions?

Color Blind

The relationship between a latino man and a white blind woman. They are very deeply in love with one another despite the disapproval of the girlfriend's father.

It is midday. Jordan and Monica are driving to meet Monica’s parents at their home. Monica is a bit nervous for him to meet her parents, especially her dad.

Dennis arrives. He hears the laughter that is coming from the dining room. It brings a smile to his face as he recognizes his wife and his daughter’s laughter. His face becomes serious and stern as he hears the laughter of a man when he walks into the dining room.

Carmen gets up and greets him with a kiss. Monica, helped by Jordan, gets out of her seat and greets her dad, as well. Jordan stretches out his hand to greet him. Dennis denies the hand shake. They all take a seat at the table, which is already set. While Carmen starts to pass the pastries around, Dennis begins to question Jordan.

He brings up one of Monica’s ex boyfriends and starts to compare him with Jordan. Everyone at the table is beginning to get uncomfortable. Dennis then asks what Jordan’s true intentions are with his daughter. He asks whether he thought if dating a blind girl, he could get away with many things. Jordan, a bit upset, and with respect, respond that he his only intention is to love Monica. He is aware that she is blind and that it will different. Dennis is still not convinced about his daughter’s relationship with her boyfriend.

The questions are then directed to Monica by saying why she didn't date someone from her own race. Monica answers that the heart does not pick and choose who it will love. Love is not defined race or social class, but by personality and the ability to love the person back.

With frustration, Dennis asks why couldn't she just date someone her own race. At this comment, Monica starts to stand to leave. At this movement, Dennis is enraged and bangs the table, telling them both to sit down. Both Jordan and Monica get up from the table and say goodbye.

At the dinner table, Carmen tells Dennis that it will only take a while until Monica will eventually stop talking to him. He either changes his ways or loose her relationship with her daughter.

In the car, both Jordan and Monica are sitting. Jordan jokingly says how dinner was fun. A light laughter, in agreement comes out of Monica, releasing the stress. Jordan turns to look at her and tells her that everything will turn out okay.

Time passes by. We see Monica and Jordan coming out of a church, hand in hand. We then see Dennis come up to them, takes their intertwined hands in his, and smiles in approval
