Replenishment
A personal journey through the landscape and waterways of Bradford on Avon (UK). Replenishment is a film poem made by the community it depicts and features the voices of local people.
Commissioned and performed as part of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment UK Watercycle tour. This first film from Daniel Thomason and Oliver Brown is one of a series intended to engage with communities interested in representing their strengths through collaborations with local writers. It will sit well, as a short film of 07:07 minutes, in programs highlighting cross-media work. Thomason and Brown are particularly interested in the live music element, and have been delighted to welcome clarinetists Katherine Spencer, from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, to take part in screenings.
The poet Dawn Gorman says of this project: "Poetry belongs in the community: that’s my starting point as a working poet. Let people have it and do with it what they will." Thomason and Brown have done something magical with Gorman's work, read more about the process here: https://theartsinwiltshire.wordpress.com/2015/04/10/guest-blog-the-watercycle-project-a-poets-eye-view-by-dawn-gorman/

On this their début, Daniel Thomason and Oliver Brown have joined forces to create a film with their local community at its core. Combining their skills Thomason and Brown have taken on every aspect of the film making process to great effect in producing Replenishment. Drawing on previous experience as a composer, sound designer and sound technician, Thomason, acting as the “ears” of the project, produced, recorded and mixed all of the sound and music you hear. In contrast, Brown, with keen interests in the art of photography and subsequently motion pictures, acted as the “eyes”: filming, editing and carrying out post production duties.
Working closely to accomplish their shared vision it is clear that the pair have developed a distinct style and revealed a fresh perspective on the film poem genre.
