Visions Of An Imperfect Mind

“Midway upon the journey of our life,
I found myself within a forest dark,
for the straightforward pathway had been lost.”

A man sits at a desk, writing on a piece of paper. Are we seeing his past, the influence of something darker, or the uncanny intrusions of a vivid imagination?

Director Biography - Jean-Pierre Marchant

Midway between the journey of his life JP Marchant happily found himself within a forest dark, having lost his way off the straightforward path as a corporate drone in the oil & gas industry. The catalyst was a filmmaking course at the Film & Video Arts Society of Alberta in the summer of 2013. Since then he has worked on nearly a dozen independent film sets. This is his first post-student production. Though he still works in the oil & gas industry, JP’s free time is spent talking about, watching, and producing movies. He admires silent films and the works of Guy Maddin, Deco Dawson, Bela Tarr, Ingmar Bergman, Yasujiro Ozu, and David Lynch. Visions of an Impure Mind was partly inspired by JP’s daily struggle to keep alive his dreams of making film against the cumbersome burdens of a job and daily life. He currently lives in Lethbridge with his partner and their cat.
