The Possessed

"The Possessed" - a kind of road movie, where the camera meets on its way different forms of life, history and everyday life - different forms of Russian eeriness. In this story there is no country or society, the surface of the political is represented by the excesses of them instead. Facades, scenery, vast expanses painted on a fence with barbed wire, the rituals of celebration and festivities, not correlated with any sense except for the satisfaction of hunger, a bouncy castle for the tyrant or smoldering galvanized coffin of the mausoleum are floating before the eyes of traveler.

Director Biography - Tsykhanskaya Ira

Finished video art department at The Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia named Alexander Rodchenko.
Explores images of Russian identity and engaged in the development of the subjective visual myth based on a combination of Russian folklore, the Soviet and post-Soviet transformation of cultural codes and patterns of habitual perception of myth, connecting ritual and routine.
The works combine video and installation.
Lives and works in Moscow.
