Director Statement

Hearing or deaf, seeing or blind, mentally healthy or mentally-ill, no matter which impediment, there will always be some sort of barrier preventing others from understanding one's circumstance or situation. The most common barrier is one of communication. Despite misconceptions, the communication barrier is not just suffered by foreigners or out-of-town strangers, no, everyone has to live with it; this particular barrier will never stop existing for all of us. It can get frustrating to deal with this barrier; it is usually downright exhausting. Our efforts to overcome this barrier, through written, typed, signed, and various other gestures, make it worth the while to explore our potential relationships with each other in full, whether they be professional, romantic, or distant. When it all goes wrong, the romantic, yet misguided allure to set things right can turn vicious. Tread carefully.
