Director Biography - Ernesto Anaya Adalid

Ernesto Anaya Adalid 1980. Guionista, productor y director radicado en México DF. Estudió biología en la Facultad de Ciencias de la UNAM y dirección de cine en FAMU, Praga, República Checa. Ha escrito, producido y dirigido varios cortometrajes, programas de televisión y videoclips. Anaya Adalid se encuentra actualmente trabajando en el desarrollo de su opera prima de ficción "Los muertos no pagan sus deudas" un thriller de horror de alto voltaje con comedia negra y fantasía sobre lazos familiares, redención y deudas con la sociedad en el México actual.

Ernesto Anaya Adalid 1980. Writer, producer and director based on Mexico city. Studied biology at the Science Faculty UNAM and film directing at FAMU Prague Czech Republic. Ernesto has written, produced and directed several short films, tv shows and videoclips. Anaya Adalid is working on his feature film debut "The dead do not pay their debts" A high voltage horror-thriller with acid comedy and fantasy about family bonds, redemption and debts with society in the present day Mexico.

Director Statement

The film was shot in 8 days almost entirely at real underwater caves in the Yucatan Peninsula during the spring of 2014. A professional crew of 3 cave divers including camera perform the whole action seen here which involved complex underwater scene blocking and long decompression cave dives with only diving lamps and natural light, no budget at all, no real actors nor vfx of any kind.
It is a completely independent underwater naturalistic short thriller about death based on a local Mayan leyend and is a homage to all cave divers whom have lost their lives diving in caves. It was such an adventure to shoot it. Thank you very much for watching.
