The Fall

Born in Brussels in 1995, Samuel Ber is above all a musician. Drummer, pianist, author and composer, he is involved in many jazz, alternative rock and free projects, primarily in Antwerp and Brussels. At 18, he entered the Antwerp Conservatory where he currently studies the drum in his second year.

Earlier on he followed courses in theatre and theatrical improvisation, notably with Isabelle de Hertogh, also becoming involved in film voice-over. From 2005 to 2009 he played the lead role in several productions created in Brussels. In 2010, during the filming of scenes projected as part of the staging of the play « Himmelweg » (directed by Jasmina Douieb at l’Atelier 2010 in Brussels), he met Sébastian Fernandez, who became the director of photography and film editor of « Perspective », his first film. In 2012 he appeared in film sequences projected as part of the show « Happy Slapping », directed by Alexandre Drouet, also at l’Atelier 2010.

During this period he also became interested in music for the cinema and composed the original score for « This is Love », a short animated film (produced by P. Callewaert and F. Bolsée), which won the Fedex Prize at the 2013 Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF).

In October 2011 he completed the scenario for « Perspective », his first short film, which he produced and for which he composed the original score. Erika Sainte and Thierry Janssen appear in the principal roles (with the participation of Michel Israël). The film was produced on the no budget total model, each member of the team having agreed to participate upon simply reading the scenario.

In March 2015, he made the music video "The Fall", for the belgian rock band Zero Tolerance For Silence, starring Isabelle de Hertogh, Anne-Pascale Clairembourg, Hugues Hausman and Michel Israël.

Currently he is finishing the scenarios for two feature-length films and a short film.
