He's old. He's deaf. He's lame. He's irritating. A grandfather has his last cup of tea before he's dumped in an old folks home. Watching his grandson playing with plastic aeroplanes he's suddenly propelled back to the cockpit of his Lancaster...with a nightfighter on his tail..

Director Statement

I decided that my first short film was not going to be sensible. If you have no money and precious few resources, it's best to do a story set in your own flat with no more than 3 actors. And make it pithy/funny/edgy etc etc. It's a tiny industry in Scotland and it's best to see what's proved popular in the past and do the same. Well I didn't. I decided instead to make the most 'epic' story I could manage and not shoot it in the currently accepted style. Stupid, I know, but there you go. So here is a zero budget (except for food and travel) story where most the props, sets and special effects are in the viewer's brain. Thanks to some good friends and some keen students, we brought the project home. Thanks to everyone involved! And here's to the elderly people that I wanted to speak up for (a little).
