With this film, we decided to focus on the narrative & the directing of actors instead of technique, angles or framing. The film is based on the notion of getting into a scene late and getting out of a scene early. This film is heavily influenced by Ruben Östlunds's work, some scenes are played out in the master shot. The film uses Cassavetes's handheld style camera. We were able to shoot this in 11 hours. To make things interesting we assigned a challenge to ourselves: Use minimum amount of coverage as possible to preserve the narrative drive. "Cinema is the art of showing nothing" said Robert Bresson. So we tried to express things with a minimum of means, less is more. We only used close ups, when it was absolutely necessary. This is a nuanced story that could only be told in black & white.
