Iqbal Chowdhury (he/him) is a writer-director-producer based in Toronto.
Iqbal's debut feature film project 'Boli' won the national film grant in Bangladesh 2020/2021. 'Boli 'has been pre-selected by the Hubert Bals Fund for Script and Development Fund. 'Boli' was also one of the short-listed projects at NFDC Co-Production market 2021.
Iqbal has completed his post-graduation degree from Centennial College, Toronto in Film Production.
As a writer-director-producer, Iqbal has had two short films (Dhaka 2.00 & Rowai) in the Cannes short film corner. His Dhaka-based short film ‘Dant (Teeth)’ competed in the main competition section of the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal 2018.
Iqbal’s short film ‘Rowai’ was part of the official selection of IFFSA, Toronto, 2020. He established Another Canadian Media, a Toronto-based production company, in the same year.
Dant (Teeth) is the story of the struggles of two people belongs to two different social classes. Its my tribute to the fighting spirit of Bangladeshi extremely poor people.
