Three questions I recently posed to a classroom of teenagers in a Belgique High School;
1. What is the 'one thing' that Australians would know about Belgium if they just relied on watching TV News in the last year or so?"
"Bombs going off = unsafe place to be"
2. "If I just relied on what you saw on the TV and read in the papers, would cycling across Europe to Turkey and back be a rational thing to do?"
"Turkey!!! Are you crazy?!"
3. "I am a poor and homeless Wasp* from a country (two actually, United Kingdom & Australia) where the media seem hell-dent in demonising all Muslims as terrorists. What sort of reception would I receive in Turkey, given that I need to rely on other peoples' generosity to meet the three basic needs of survival - heat, food, & shelter?"
I hope that I have provided find the answer to that third question in this film...
*White Anglo-Saxon Protestant.
