360 Generation Ocean: Coral Reefs

Join Dr. Ian Enochs and his research team for an expedition onboard R/V ANGARI to the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary to study coral reefs. Survey the health of a coral reef using SCUBA and camera equipment, collect a coral core and take it back to the lab for scanning, and visit the Experimental Reef Lab to learn more about ongoing experiments.
ANGARI Foundation strives to inspire its viewers to protect our oceans and beware of our environment by bringing viewers along on research expeditions and enables them to explore our vast oceans through film and innovative technologies like virtual reality (VR) and 360 films. Our signature 360 episodes are designed to make the ocean, its inhabitants, and at-sea research accessible and enjoyable for all audiences. Each ANGARI film can stand on its own or be applied to a more in-depth and engaging marine science learning experience in the classroom, using complementary standards-oriented lesson plans developed by
our Educator Council. The goals for these films are to immerse viewers in both field and lab scientific methods, directly align lessons to state/national standards as well as the Ocean Literacy Framework, and to increase student engagement in STEAM fields from K-12, through college. Our current 360 films include ANGARI Foundation’s Virtual Reality Pilot and the first episode from our Generation Ocean series, entitled Generation Ocean: Coral Reefs.
