As a Christian I had heard that the papal post is that of the Antichrist from the bible & that Britain is a Protestant nation by law and the monarchy must not reconcile with the Church of Rome in anyway nor bring the country back into the bondage of the Anti Christ .
So when I heard about this protest on the morning of the protest I knew that I had to record it in some way as I felt that history was being made given that Britain is a protestant nation by law and so must not allow the pope to come to London .
I was surprised to see some Christians protest at the pope all the same as many don’t protest .. it was nice to record their heartfelt beliefs. We had no pre arranged questions – they were asked on the spot and so responded what they believed.
There were 12 interviews - mixture of Protestants and Catholics - in total in the longer version. The Catholics refusal to accept that the pope is the antichrist or that worshipping Mary is paganism was disconcerting.
Incidently 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the Reformation this of course is good to know as a film maker and a film festivaler.
