Director Statement

[In] Fixo was born from the desire to explore the dialogue between dance and cinema, reflecting the essence of the collective in blending artistic languages. Inspired by the show Infixo from Cia Movin, the project investigates contemporary concepts such as volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA), translating them into movement. The transition to videodance was an opportunity to go beyond the stage, creating an audiovisual narrative that combines abstraction, fiction, and drama, expanding the possibilities for expression and connection, while also breaking linguistic barriers through the body.

It all started in a conversation circle among friends. I’ve always been passionate about cinema, and I believe it is a powerful tool to touch the audience in sensitive and profound places. My journey as a street and visual artist directly influenced the narrative of [In] Fixo, bringing reflections on the world we live in. Since childhood, I’ve felt that movement has a unique power, capable of communicating emotions that words cannot reach. Migrating to the videodance format was a challenge that allowed me to explore new creative layers and bring life to visual and scenic elements that reimagine the concepts of the original performance. Spaces such as an abandoned parking lot and an empty mansion became metaphors not only for internal and external transitions but also for our affective memories that connect us to who we are.

My intention with [In] Fixo is to offer the audience a sensory and reflective experience, inviting them to explore the mutations and memories that shape the human condition, connecting the past and the present. I want each scene to be lived before it is understood, allowing each viewer to build their own interpretation. This videodance does not aim to provide answers but to provoke questions. I want the audience to feel, at once, displaced and intrigued, but also welcomed by the universality of the emotions that cross the work.

The film [In] Fixo explores the movement between visual references and the repertoire of dance, functioning as an intersemiotic translation that unfolds into a new, independent work from the original performance, while guiding us to other and new interpretations. It invites us to reflect on the ephemerality and liquidity of our time, while addressing the struggle against internal limitations and the transgression into renewed states of existence.

The door, a central symbolic element, personifies our choices and the traces we leave as we move forward. Each character and setting embodies facets of the VUCA concept, while Vivaldi's Four Seasons intertwines with movements, costumes, and scenes. This dialogue between music and movement oscillates between fragility and strength, reflecting the transformations and cycles that shape our journey.

As a director, [In] Fixo has been a journey of learning about human existence and the essence of connections. I realized that nothing is created from nothing, but rather found — encounters between people, ideas, and experiences that shape us as individuals. I further understood the importance of how each human being has something valuable to contribute to our formation. After all, people need people.

In the artistic field, the project opened a powerful door to expand and enhance our creations. I believe the film has the ability to bring people closer, communicate, and establish new connections, transcending geographical and cultural barriers, allowing our stories to resonate with people from different parts of the world.
