Director Biography - Jiamu Liu

Jiamu Liu is a young director and screenwriter, who is currently studying in Beijing Film Academy and is about to graduate. This film is his second attempt to create as the director and screenwriter. His last short film is Purple Complications.
Jiamu Liu once as a company partner (Beijing Free Yala Film and Television Production Co., Ltd.) participated in the production of The Ghost of 2022, which was shortlisted the market unit of Visions du Réel. In addition, he as the screenwriter completed a large-scale short film project called Klein Red, which currently is still in production.
In his work, Jiamu Liu prefers to demonstrate the discrete and indifferent social situation, and he is good at leveraging supernatural concepts to guide this kind of social situation to an absurd result.

Director Statement

When the society is inanimate and stripped from individual life, will a mass hysteria come into being resulting in the long-term illness infection of indifference and discreteness?
We are proud of the birth of this film with sociality in current China. Besides, it’s our honor to cooperate with the sound designer Yang Yang and the female lead Xinglin Li. The former is the sound designer of Banished Love, which won the 77th Festival De Cannes 1st Prize Cinefondation (nominated), and the latter is the female leading role of Doom Shift (translated from 厄运转移), which won the 7th filMarathon best editing. In addition, 30% members of creators belongs to LGBTQ+, and this film is cooperated with a Singaporean company. all these, we are proud of them.
