Shira Levin is a filmmaker living and working in New York City. She recently completed her first feature film, STARFISH. Prior to this, she wrote/directed a short film trilogy, which includes LAST DAY, OLD JUNK and UPSIDE DOWN. The films screened at festivals around the country. UPSIDE DOWN also screened in India and Scotland and won the Audience Choice Award at the Springfield LGBT Film Festival (2015). In addition to writing and directing, Ms. Levin teaches screenwriting at New York Film Academy.
Prior to becoming a filmmaker, Shira was Martin Scorsese's Director of Development for six years and assisted the VP Production at Universal Pictures (NY) for two years where she managed the story department. Shira was Script Consultant and Associate Producer on Deuces Wild, (MGM/UA) and Brides (a.k.a. Nyfes), Directed by Pantelis Voulagris, Executive Producer Martin Scorsese). As a writer, two of her feature screenplays, adaptations of novels, were optioned and in development.
