Director Biography - Quinn Pohl

A graduate of the Surrey Institute of Art and Design, Quinn is a professional film and video producer currently working with an international NGO, producing films with a strong humanitarian emphasis. An editing specialist, Quinn has honed his sense of story-telling through working on dramas, documentaries and independent feature film.

Quinn’s most recently directed film, My Short Ghost Story, is dark story of regret and remorse that looks at the loss of control and isolation that can be caused by grief. On My Short Ghost Story Quinn also worked with Childhood Lost DOP Kieran Simpson, having developed a strong working relationship not only during the production but also previously while studying 16mm film production at Southgate College in London.

Quinn has worked on a range of film projects, including a short drama about the consequences of dismissing early signs of violence, which was selected for screening at the Videoteque Edinburgh International Film Festival, showcased on itvlocal.com and screened at the Imax Birmingham Cinem@tic Film Festival.

In 2009, a short documentary Quinn edited on the humanitarian situation in Gaza was selected for screening at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. The theme of the human struggle is present throughout Quinn’s work.

My appetite is telling stories that reflect the multi-facets of human nature, creating and sharing stories that cause us to look at ourselves and our context in this world, acknowledging our flaws, strengths and innate contradictions as human beings.
