300 Vines

After Pamela's heartbreaking divorce, she plowed a mudpit for three days straight and planted 300 vines — turning her sorrow into wine.

Pamela Borgel, she’s the first woman in the state of Georgia to start a winery and vineyard all on her own. Painted Horses Winery and Vineyards is the only of its kind in Milton and has 3 award winning wines already. But Pamela didn’t know when she planted her first vine it would blossom into what it is today.

After Pamela got divorced, she cried, got on her grandfathers 1950’s Ford N8 tractor and began to plow a field recklessly for 3 days straight. She got off the tractor and said, in tears, “as God is my witness, this will not ruin me.” And decided in that moment she’d plant 300 grape vines and start a vineyard. And what’s a vineyard without a winery. But, she knew nothing, zero, about making wine.

Through trial and error, finding new love, and the support of her family, Painted Horses Winery and Vineyard grew. It hosts live music events, a preschool, horse boarding and riding, a cow named Daisy, a Donkey named Fraunky with a wine named after him, boy and Girl Scout adventures and a heck of a lot more. Making it a staple in the Milton, Fulton, and Atlanta area as a whole.

Director Biography - Hailey (Hails) Joseph

My name is Hailey Joseph, but you’ll often hear me go by Hails (like the stuff that falls from the sky, but plural).

I’ve been making art professionally for the past eleven years. I’ve trained in almost everything imaginable: sculpture, painting, illustration, creative writing, music theory, and more. However, my primary focuses are: non-fiction filmmaking, graphic design and photography!

In film, I’ve worked as a 1st Assistant Director, Producer, Unit Still Photographer, Art Department, and PA. When leading my own films, I’m often producing since they’re based in non-fiction.

I’ve always wanted to use my talent to give back as well. In 2019 I started the clothing brand, CLOUDIII, to help underprivileged youth participate in the creative workforce. I donated 50% of my earnings to Houston middle and highschools who lacked an arts program. During the same time I was a still photographer for Fast Houston, a sports organization that helps underprivileged youth succeed in football.

I’m the Head Project Manager for the clothing and lifestyle brand Reenos Studios. And will graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Film and Television and Minor in Dramatic Writing in June of 2023.

Director Statement

It’s been an interesting road to becoming a non-narrative filmmaker and documentarian. A lot of my peers are fiction based filmmakers. While writing your own story is a lot of fun, I find helping tell other people’s stories is a lot more satisfying. I am a part of someone's history in the most intimate way possible. And they trust me with their story that’s a fraction of theirs and allow me to tell it to the world. Documentaries require a lot of trust. I believe the work my team and I put into 300 Vines reflects these qualities.
