Steven Sims is a producer/director from Los Angeles, CA. Growing up in western Pennsylvania, Sims spent his childhood dreaming of a life in Hollywood. In 2007, Sims relocated to LA and has since been working steadily as a producer, director, and actor. He has created and produced several narrative projects, including the 2008 short film, Destroying Jonah Hill, which landed Sims a lead role in the parody film, The 41Year Old Virgin Who Knocked up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It. Sims has also appeared in the Netflix film A Futile and Stupid Gesture. Over the last decade, Sims has produced multiple television series for such networks as NBC, HBO, Bravo, and VH1. He most recently appeared as an on-camera producer for the Emmy nominated Facebook series Returning The Favor. When he isn’t acting or producing, Sims spends his free time drumming with the Los Angeles-based cowboy band, Anya and The Left Coast Danglers.
In February 2017 I was hosting a Facebook Live series which featured a variety of segments and guests. Being a fan of 222 I thought it would be fun to have them perform on the show. After we wrapped I asked Dennis why no one was following their journey with a camera. He said, "Why don't you?" For the next three years, I tracked the journey of Jade Howard and Dennis Hamlin and as they brought to life their Los Angeles dance-rock band, 222.
In early 2020 I held a private screening in NYC, where I shared a version of the film with colleagues and fellow producers. After a positive response, I decided that summer 2020 was the time for its release. Then, a month later we were all in lockdown, ultimately shelving the film...until now.
