This short film promotes the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, celebrated every 21 May, by animating traditional dances of all the cultures that are already in the class of the young authors (10y old). The animation represents dances from Spain, China, Russia, Tunisia, Moldova, New Zealand, Italy.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This projects stems from a 33-hours Civic education course, with the aim of understanding the principles of the International celebration of cultural diversity, promoted by UNESCO for Mat 21. This workshop aimed at celebrating the cultural diversity already present in the class, approaching many aspects like religion, language, habits, clothing and housing, means of transportation and so on. From a technical point of view, the children studied the joints of the human body, to build paper puppets that could move correctly; they analyzed the dances in slow motion, to try to reproduce their movements exactly.
This short was produced during normal school hours, with the support of teachers within the school. It is part of a film education project that promotes the use of cinema as a pedagogical tool.
