Welcome to the CMU 2020 Short Film Competition!

This year’s theme for Short film entries is "Faces of Home". We’re looking for films to capture the essence of home in a unique and engaging way. We launch this call for short film entries, as a part of the CMU International Film Festival, with the theme 'Faces of Home' to be held in April 2020. Participants’ films will be judged by a panel of industry professionals and Pittsburgh scholars.

Our annual Short Film Competition unites local and international student filmmakers for an exciting one- night event. Every year, the festival chooses a theme that focuses on a current social issue or idea. We display student work that creates a poignant and unique perspective through their films. Each filmmaker gets the dual benefit of a live audience reaction and feedback from industry professionals. Our mission is to engage the Pittsburgh community in a lively discussion that exhibits both culturally diverse filmmaking and personal expression.
