Topic: 1=3 (Voluntary blood donation)
Why we choose this topic: Blood transfusion service is an essential part of modern health care system. Ensuring the safety and availability of blood and blood products is an essential. However many patients requiring transfusion do not have timely access to safe blood, Since the inception of the National AIDS Control program in India (1992), the blood safety program in India has been making significant strides towards ensuring access to safe, and quality blood and blood products to all those who are in need of a transfusion. But still overall national clinical demand for blood supply was more than the collection of blood units in India (According to National AIDS Control Organization, in 2018). This short video is to bring awareness to public about importance of voluntary blood donation, since percentage of voluntary blood donation in India is only 71%( Assessment of Blood Banks in India 2016).
Short summary of this video:
This video begins with current status of blood bank in southern part of India in a tertiary care hospital. This video shows how much a patient or relative is struggling to get blood for a surgery when there is not enough stock in blood bank. This bring lot of anxiety and suffering to patients. Current status of blood donation in India was explained based on recent study. This are many factors responsible for this but following three are the most important problem faced by India. (1) not sufficient awareness in the community, (2) not enough fund to maintain voluntary blood donor program and (3) no national blood bank registry to track and engage with voluntary donors. Our vision 2030 is 100% voluntary blood donors in India. This video ends with what will happen if India achieved this goal in 2030 to highlights the importance of regular voluntary blood donation.

I'm Medical Laboratory Technologist working in Christian Medical College Vellore in Blood Bank. Making Video is my Passion.
Since I'm serving with Health Professionals, i understood the importance of voluntary blood donation. Many patients could not able to get sufficient Blood or Blood Products for the treatment. From recent studies i found that, there is a need to increase awareness in the community to enhance the Voluntary Blood Donation. This will bring down the gap between the Clinical demand and supply of Blood and Blood Products.
