1969 : Killers, Freaks, and Radicals

Amid the radical political and cultural upheaval of the late 1960s, a series of brutal murders targeting young women terrorized the twin university towns of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, Michigan. Frustrations mounted at the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University as dysfunctional local police seemed increasingly unable to stop the killer - or killers - responsible.
This independent documentary explores the unique social atmosphere of the time period, which still echoes with many important and divisive issues today.

Director Biography - ANDREW TEMPLETON

An independent filmmaker from the Detroit area who has been fascinated by cameras, history, and storytelling since childhood. Reading about the tumultuous events occurring simultaneously in Southeast Michigan in the late 1960s gripped me and I spent 6 years researching and independently producing this documentary: a true passion project, with the goal of telling this largely forgotten true-crime story in an engaging, informative, and respectful way.
