1947: Brexit India
This documentary examines how the British ruled India for 200 years with minimal population, becoming a world superpower. Lord Mountbatten's abrupt decision to split India into two in 1947 led to catastrophic consequences, with 1 million deaths and 20 million displaced. Experts from Britain, West Indies, Pakistan, and India discuss the United States and Canada's influence on Britain's decolonization and India's path to independence and emergence as a new global superpower.

India’s struggle for freedom started in 1857 and went on for another 90 years which was finally achieved in 1947. Most attribute it to the Nationalist movements but that’s just one part of the story.
