Only a moment

Maria is at a crossroads with a broken marriage and a residence permit that has just been revoked. She has been given thirty days to leave Denmark and must say goodbye to her friends, her job, and the entire life she has made for herself. Maria fights to stay in Denmark all the while packing and preparing to leave. She wavers between nostalgia, anger and stress as the days carry her forward to an unforeseeable future in her home country of Mexico.
“In forty years, my life in Denmark will only be a moment,” says a depressed Maria. The film counts down to the day of her departure and is composed of a series of moments in Maria’s life. We follow Maria on a journey to visit her ex-parents-in-law in Jutland, at the restaurant where she worked, volunteering at the gay pride parade, at a Crossfit session, with her ex-wife, at a bakery where she is learning to make Danish pastry, and while she is packing. The film is a portrait of a pragmatic and willful woman, who, despite challenging circumstances, retains her optimism and joie de vivre.
