My thesis short film Pakigbisog “Struggle” is inspired by current events that that has happened in the Philippines, specifically the 2013 super typhoon Haiyan or Yolanda that swept through the Visayas.
It was there where I decided to come up with a simple narrative that takes place in the aftermath of these kinds of natural disasters since they are the most common to hit the country. Pakigbisog is about people fighting over food in the aftermath of a typhoon.
Pakigbisog is an action short film which takes a slow cinema approach and is based on real time spectatorship for people that watch fights in the form of sports either be mixed martial arts, boxing, or Eskrima fights.
