Knoxville Tn has always supported a thriving local music scene. From big names to regional acts, our town has long been a showcase for musical talent. However, up until the mid to late 1980's the music genres featured locally lacked a certain diversity. Enter Slyman's. On a quaint little small town street in the middle of the business district one brave business man and a couple hundred metal heads changed the local bandscape forever. The practice studios casually known as Slyman's became the shining metallic center of a movement that Knoxville's powers that be neither understood nor welcomed. This film is an attempt to tell the story of several small town garage bands trying to forge their place in the music business by changing the dynamic of the Knoxville scene.
