Michelle was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to a diverse Indian family of engineers, diplomats, and playwrights but settled in Annapolis, Maryland at the age of two. After growing up a stone's throw from the Naval Academy, she relocated to the southwest where she eventually attended the University of Texas at Austin to study piano performance and composition. Michelle worked on a wide range of musical projects, including her own 24 piece big band and is notably the only Indian woman to ever receive a Grammy nomination for a Tejano album (if that's a thing worth noting). Now, a screenwriter and novelist, she has enjoyed putting millions of words to the page and then deleting nearly all of them. Her screenplays have garnered numerous film festival and competition awards, including the StoryPros Awards, CineStory Foundation, Barcelona International Film Festival, California Film Awards, Beverly Hills Screenplay Competition, and more.
