Melody's upbringing in Oklahoma immersed her in the world of theater, igniting her natural affinity for drama. Even as a child, she would craft scripts for herself and her siblings, enacting captivating performances during family gatherings. Pursuing her passion, she obtained a Theatre degree from the University of Texas at Dallas, and later expanded her academic horizons by earning a Masters Degree in Counseling & Guidance from TWU. Notably, Melody had the privilege of studying and teaching alongside Jeff Alexander, renowned as Jayne Mansfield's acting coach.
However, the arrival of her own daughters redirected her path towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, an occupation she embraced as her twins and their older sister grew and embarked on their own journeys. Throughout this period, Melody's creativity blossomed, resulting in the publication of two books. But her true calling beckoned her back to the world of film, rekindling her passion for compelling storytelling.
Driven by her extensive experience and distinct understanding of human nature, Melody's powerful films evoke an intimate, touching, and profound resonance with audiences. As a multifaceted artist, she thrives in various roles, serving as a writer, producer, director, editor, and actor. It is her exceptional fusion of artistic vision and practical knowledge that propels her filmmaking process, gaining notable recognition through numerous awards bestowed upon her films and scripts.
Creating films that move people to change, seeing themselves and others in a new light, allowing pathways for new perspectives to emerge is my passion. I live to see those eyes light up, tear up, crinkle into laugh lines. Truth in film, as parables, to move people is my one and only goal.
