Controversy
Controversy Is a story about life, the life of an African American family in America. On the surface the Harris family appears to be like the people next door. A successful
businessman ,his trophy wife, and Picture perfect children Buddy, a curious I6-year-old, on the road to a promising basketball career,if he could only control his sex drive;and Lisa,a precious 11-year-old,with a withdrawn personality that does not reflect the nickname"Tiger",given to her by her daddy.
As previously stated, CONTROVERSY is about Life And life is not without its ups and downs. Not only is Josh an infidel, but he also lives a double life as a HITMAN for the Italian mafia. He uses the revenue to finance his business with his silent partner, who is also his best
Friend ,Warren Alexander. Josh meets his fate after one hit too many and the Italian mafia has him killed. His spouse, Janet, is no angel to weep for. She has a love hate relationship with her children. She loves Buddy undyingly but abuses"Tiger"with the fury of a woman scorned. Josh's death changes the dynamics of all of his loved ones, dramatically.
After ten years, the story moves to the present day. Warren is now the front man for Josh's business and the surrogate father to his children. The children have been away but recently returned to avenge their father's death. The 3 of them,in addition to Josh's mistress Lauren, set about to sting the mafia by positioning themselves as a new players in the Harlem drug world. Buddy is now a steel hard professional in the tradition of his father. Tiger is equally as cold-hearted. Her ice starts to melt when she meets an exotic young singer and finally realizes her place in the scheme of things.
This is just a few of the CONTROVERSIAL elements in this film about the presence of dysfunction in a modern day African American family. On display,is the notion that anything can happen without cause of judgment, without rhyme or reason. Anything can happen in the blink of an eye, but if it couldn't be Controversy.
