Director Biography - Victoria Blade

I am an Atlanta based actor, filmmaker and musician. I grew up in Michigan pursuing theatre and music from an early age. After graduating from Western Michigan University, I married my college sweetheart and moved to Chicago where I began working professionally in theatre, television and independent films. During my Chicago days, I also started my first band and studied at the School at Steppenwolf.

I recently wrote, produced and directed my first film – Alien Baby, in which I play a neurotic office employee who comes face to face with the unavoidable weirdness of childbirth. I’ve never had a baby, but it seems pretty weird!

Alien Baby is currently enjoying a warm reception in the festival circuit. We were honored to win Best Comedy Short at Windy City International Film Fest in Chicago.

Director Statement

Too often, the topic of pregnancy in film and TV is oversimplified and brushed over. I'm excited to present a fresh new female perspective on childbirth through the characters in Alien Baby. I've never had a baby, but am, quite frankly, overwhelmed by the prospect. This 8 minute comedy honors the unbelievable amount of emotional and physical stress that women undertake to prolong the human race.
