Director Biography - Nick Taylor


Early in his career, Nick honed his story telling technique. Taylor’s motto is “Make the small story big.”
Nick began his career producing local, state, and national news stories, working as a stringer for various news agencies. After a few years working as a contract videographer, Taylor took on the position of Video Producer for The University of Texas-Pan American. At UTPA Taylor produced news stories, documentaries, and ad campaigns.
At UTPA Nick produced, wrote and edited several note worthy videos. One example is the Parental Involvement video series produced for GEAR UP. The series was sent to the United States Congress in order to increase program awareness.
In May 2009 Nick graduated with a MA in Communication from the University of Texas Pan American. Taylor, then, earned a doctorate in instructional technology from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2015.
Currently, Taylor works with UTRGV as a lecturer of broadcast journalism while continuing his professional career. Taylor’s research discussing trends in broadcasting has been published in scholarly journals and trade magazines. Nick also produces news stories for various organizations several times a year. Taylor remains an active documentary producer, working on feature length documentaries highlighting South Texas and the Hispanic American experience.
