Experiencing Interruptions?

The Craftsman

The Craftsman is an experimental short film by Philipp Bückle.
It was shot in the Academy ratio (1.375:1) and in black and white.

It features a total of eight scenes, each lasting exactly a minute, divided by one/two seconds of black screen. Four are outside shots and another four depict a man sitting in a wardrobe. At one point a spider gets involved.
The camera is static and there is hardly any movement at all but hints of the narrative are spread all over the pictorial compositions.

Director Biography - Philipp Bückle

PHILIPP BÜCKLE, born 1979 is a musician and filmmaker from Dortmund, Germany.

After over 10 years of musicianship under the name Teamforest involving Europe-wide concert engagements, record releases throughout the world and numerous collaborations with internationally acclaimed artists Bückle felt the urge to explore another medium. First attempts in filmmaking were made and almost instantly appreciated. After a couple of music videos the first short movies were completed.

A uniting aspect is the static camera directed upon rather everyday situations and objects that always reveal a certain eeriness after looking at them for some time.
