Steve earned his MFA in Acting from the Professional Theatre Training Program at Brandeis University in 1991, where he received a full-tuition scholarship and teaching assistantship. As an actor, he has worked off-Broadway and in regional theatre with the likes of Obie Award-winner Ralph Lee & The Mettawee River Theatre Company, with whom he was honored to participate in the ticker tape parade for Nelson Mandela in 1990, and Emmy Award-winning television producer Burt Rosen in Los Angeles (Leonidik in My Poor Marat under the direction of Avner Garbi), a show he starred in and co-produced to raise funds for the Bosnian Relief Effort. He has also worked at theatres in Boston, including the Huntington Theatre Company, the New Rep, the Majestic, and the Boston Publick. While in Los Angeles, he was a member of the Blue Line Theatre Company and performed in noteworthy productions, including The Walker Women of Willow Grove, directed by Bonnie Pemberton, which won a DramaLogue Award, and Telethon at the Burbage Theatre.
Steve has been training actors for over 20 years, including guest artist stints at Clemson University, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, among others.
Steve's first feature, LUCKY U RANCH, is now being distributed by RANDOM MEDIA. He's currently in development on his second independent feature, JACKSON & DELILAH.
Steve was nominated twice and was a finalist for the Barry E. Wallace Citizenship Award at Filmstock Film Festival in Phoenix, AZ.
FOR THE PEOPLE was created by the Teen Street Films Ensemble through brainstorming, improvisation, and sharing issues of concern to company members. It sprang from a single question: Can corporations be good stewards of our natural resources? I'm always incredibly impressed by the creativity of today's young artists and am proud to present FOR THE PEOPLE, a film about water rights. Congratulations to these young artists on creating a rich story, and a valuable one.
