Milda Baginskaite is a Lithuanian director and screenwriter. After finishing MA in Film Directing at the Northern Film School, UK, Milda has moved to Manchester and works as a freelance filmmaker from there. Her short films “Apples” and “Off Course” have screened at a number of international film festivals.
'7 Planets' is a passion project born from a nostalgic child-like frustration of an unjust world. Most of the characters I write and create tend to be outsiders in one way or another. In the case of '7 Planets', I tired to create an ultimate outsider - one who chooses not to belong to Planet Earth.
Science, especially astronomy and physics, is a subject I am very passionate about. Having physicists in the family, I grew up listening to many stories of things grater than us. With this short film I tried to reflect such a state of mind by portraying one person’s life in comparison to something so much larger - a newly discovered system of 7 possibly habitable planets.
Ultimately, '7 Planets' is about dreamers. What is a lifetime but one long dream?
